I've started mainlining episodes of that 60's classic Man from U.N.C.L.E. It is another one of my pleasing (for the most part) romps into old-school slash fandom, and also (most importantly): it's got Illya! And Napoleon, who is good for some lolz, but mostly Illya! Illya gets taken down by the bad guys every episode in hilarious and heartbreaking ways and usually it's up to his bff Napoleon to save him!

What's my favorite Illya-gets-kidnapped moment? Is it the time Sharon Tate kissed him and then pushed him down a well? Is it the time the English aristocrat put him in his dungeon and then later threatened him with a poker? Is it the time Martin Landau put him in a cage full of vampire bats? Is it the time the hippies were attacking him and he decided that only way to save himself was by reciting defensive beatnik poetry?

You know, I can't even answer my own question, all the choices are just too fabulous. :DDDDDDD

My favorites so far have been "The Gazebo in the Maze Affair" (that's the one with the English aristocrat and the dungeon, plus the bad guy has a total pegging major for a wife), "The Pop Art Affair" (Illya in flip flops!), "The Bat Cave Affair" (Martin Landau!) and "The Bow Wow Affair" (puppies!)

I love The Man From U.N.C.L.E! And I've always had a crush on hapless Illya Kuryakin. Now I must see where I can get my hands on some episodes! I remember the beatnik one, and this little bit where Illya is throwing a snit and asks a flight attendant for borscht and she replies sweetly, "beef or beet"?

I have to say though, it's a treat watching Robert Vaughn now in Hustle. He may be aged but he's still dashing in my book.

Illya seriously cracks my shit up. I think it's his utter nonchalance every time he gets kidnapped. Also, I watched this one episode where he gave the bad guy chasing him a flying kick to the face! He is simultaneously the damsel in distress and the attack dog. Like a two-in-one!

It seems like every time I'd see a movie on TCM and go, "Where do I know that guy from?" and look him up on IMDB, this person will have been in an episode of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. For that alone, it's worth watching!

My favorite guest star so far has been Vincent Price. Or maybe Martin Landau, what with all the Dracula theatrics.

(Although I haven't watched the ep with Shatner and Nimoy yet, so who knows!)
