in the sixties, women were called girls!
I have been watching an ungodly amount of TOS lately, and I've gotten to the point where I've watched all the good ones and now am just sifting through and trying to find mildly lolzy parts of the later episodes where they had about two dollars to spend on a set and the costume budget was a placemat and a hell of a lot of tinfoil. It can get kind of boring, but it is seriously rewarding when you do find something good, like, oh, when you uncover the fiftieth time that Bones kind of creepily tries to get Spock to drink alcohol! Well, it has happened three times so far (and Bones has a 66% success rate, by the way), but I think it counts as a trend.

YEAH, Bones and Spock, drinking screwdrivers together. And I don't really understand why Bones keeps trying so hard to get him to drink the stuff because alcohol has no effect on Vulcans, and presumably Bones would know that, so I can only assume it's some sort of misdirected attempt at seduction. Or Bones just loves booze THAT MUCH. Maybe both? Either way,

Ha ha, it's still funny.
Also, I watched "Devil in the Dark" and I can totally see why it's Nimoy's favorite episode because it's pretty much the TOS version of "The Voyage Home": unsubtle environmental message featuring Spock mind melding and ~bonding~ with some lumpy, maternal, and yet misunderstood organism. I loved it like Spock loves the Horta. :DDDDD

Bones likes alcohol, but has inhibitions about drinking alone?
Bones likes alcohol, but likes messing with Spock's head even more?
I love "Devil in the Dark." There's also a funny anecdote about it in Nimoy's autobiography: For some reason, Shatner was off set when they filmed the mind meld scene (the back you see is apparently the stunt double) - family illness, or something like that, and after he came back, Shatner cornered Nimoy in th canteen, and asked him to describe how he'd played it, to help him prepare for filming the reaction shots. Nimoy obliged.
Shatner said, no, he couldn't picture it, could Nimoy act it out? So Nimoy did, obviously very sotto voce, as they were in public. Shatner persisted, saying he still couldn't picture it, Nimoy would have to do it properly.
Eventually Nimoy cracked, and did the scene, culminating with him crouching on the floor, giving an agonised cry of "THE PAIN!!!!!"
At which every head in the canteen turned and Shatner, the picture of innocence, yelled "Jesus, could someone get this poor guy an aspirin!"

And lol Shatner. You know, I'm consistently quite impressed with how dedicated the entire TOS cast was to trolling each other. My favorite anecdote from Nimoy's autobiography is the one where everyone on the set of the show suddenly decided to be a dick to him and steal his bike, so when they made the movie he got a plaque for it that said "Please do not steal this >:|"

Slightly off topic, but I've tried to IM you in AIM a couple of times, and I don't think it went through? Or you need to add me or something.

But yeah, if you're looking for Spock/McCoy you definitely want to watch "The Tholian Web," they fight and troll Kirk together, it is generally amazing. Plus check out these awesome outfits:
Yeah.

I also took a good look at the first gif and... I'm seriously wondering if Kelley is doing that on purpose (sexy, prolonged eye-contact.) I remember in my acting class we learned to hold certain ideas, attitudes, and beliefs that were not always conveyed in in the script but could leak through while acting. Did Kelley decide McCoy was gay? That he wanted Spock? hmmm
