John Sheppard: possibly a homosexual? Must investigate further.

I finished reading Watchmen for the first time about two weeks ago and I liked it. Then I re-read it and now I completely love it. It's a bit embarrassing. I'm trying to work my way through Alan Moore's stuff, so now I have V for Vendetta and I harassed a librarian about getting me a copy of From Hell. I have turned from sane if eccentric casual sci-fi geek to complete comics insane person. WHAT HAS HAPPENED.

I'm relatively excited about the movie, though I'm not sure about how good it will be exactly. I don't exactly expect the best from the guy who made 300. Also, it'll be hard for me to take Jeffrey Dean Morgan seriously as a rapetastic, murderous character like the Comedian. Hell, it's pretty hard for me to take Jeffrey Dean Morgan seriously anyway, what with all the cupcake-decorating shenanigans whatnot.

Also, I watched the SGA S5 premiere and I took screencaps! For no particular reason other than I could. I don't make icons and they're not particularly high-quality caps, so why did I do it?

:D :D :D

So yeah, I was so surprised how much I loved the whole episode. Possibly because even though Teyla, John, Ronon, and Rodney spend a good part of the episode covered in varying amounts of blood, sweat, debris, and amniotic fluid, they all look pretty good in the end!

Look at how pretty she is! Couldn't you just scream?

Exhibit B: Y HALO THAR!

Overall it was a very smiley 40 minutes. Because of the baby and the awesomeness and the escape from certain death and whatnot.

If the rest of this season was just the four of them holding the baby and occasionally going out and doing something faux-science-y I don't think I'd complain, to be honest. It'd definitely be an improvement over what they did last season which was...anyone even remember? I remember killer robots being involved somehow. And Rodney getting dumped and JFlan Sheppard always doing that funny uncomfortable squirm that is his way of interacting with other human beings.

From Hell, like the Johnny Depp movie? If so, that's funny. I had no idea that was based on a graphic novel.

The only similarity is in the title and subject matter, similar to the abortion that was the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen film.

The From Hell graphic novel has almost one hundred pages of historical notes outlining Moore's research and conclusions on certain subjects. It's a work of historical fiction without equal.

The V for Vendetta graphic novel is full of win. =D

Unless you're really into interpretive pornography, avoid Lost Girls. I personally recommend The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Promethea, by the way. Also, Nyssa still has my copies of Transmetropolitan, which is always worth a look.

Hmm. I should really make her give those back one of these days...

Sweet, I'm totally stealing those from her. I read fast, you should have it back soon.

I just finished The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and wow, that was so lulzy and awesome.

Did you read the second volume and the Black Dossier? +5 points for identifying the Victorian science fiction in the first issue of volume two, by the way.

And regarding Transmet, bear in mind that it is ten volumes long and is basically Hunter S. Thompson in the FUTUREEEE, including futuristic drugs, crazy sex aliens and is basically my desired standard of living. So if you don't like it, fuck you! :3

The library only has the first volume, unfortunately. Cut one of the bitches at the information desk, y/y?

I started reading the beginning of Transmet when you brought it for Nyssa that one time. It seemed like my sort of thing. And now that you've mentioned the crazy sex aliens I don't see how I couldn't like it!

I doubt your local library will have volumes two and three because there is GRATUITOUS DISPLAYS OF ANATOMY. So you'll have to buy them (slash sit and read them in the bookstore, which they hate but can't do anything about) or somehow convince me to loan you my copy of volume two.

The sex aliens are far less appealing than they sound. But are plot-relevant!
