So, today, February 15th, is my parents' 20th wedding anniversary. My brother called me up last week and suggested that we go halfsies on getting them "The Big Lebowski," with me buying it and putting both our names on it and him paying me back when he gets home. I follow his advice, as my brother is a Smart Lad, indeed much smarter than I am and also has much more finesse when it comes to getting people gifts.
Example: for Christmas last year I got my brother two Gore Vidal books. I got my dad a flashlight that was a complimentary present from when I opened a checking account at the bank. (No lie.) And then, in addition to the aforementioned movie, I got my parents a book by Garrison Keillor titled, appropriately enough, "We Are Still Married."
I need to shop more, is what it comes down to.
