Not the plot or the language or anything, but the fact that the narrator doesn't have a name. I know it's some stylistic thing, but I need names for people or they develop in some random direction in my head. So since I'm so mature and everything I've just been imagining him looking like the hottest black guy I can think of. And no, it's not Marvin Gaye, surprisingly.
Really, I'm only projecting. The narrator from Invisible Man looks, I'm guessing, more like Arthur Dent. Stringy and wimpy and, if I had my way, wearing a bathrobe. I should tell my teacher I couldn't write the research paper on the book because I was too busy speculating about the attractiveness of the main character. It would fly really well, I bet.
